Assignments connect planned work to employees. They also help BetterDesks understand which attendance records should match scheduled shifts.
Before you start
- Confirm the employee is active.
- Confirm the shift details are correct.
- Review whether the shift should be open or assigned.
Steps
- Open Schedule.
- Find the shift using date, client, or search filters.
- Open the shift editor.
- Add the worker or workers assigned to the shift.
- Save the shift.
- Review the schedule row to confirm assignment coverage.
What good looks like
Assigned shifts should clearly show who is expected to work, while open or understaffed shifts remain easy to find.
Common mistakes
- Assigning inactive employees.
- Assigning workers before the site or time range is final.
- Treating open shifts as complete coverage.
