Approving, rejecting, and reopening timesheets
Use review actions to move timesheets through the right operational state.
Timesheet review actions should describe the manager decision clearly. Approve records that are ready, reject records that need correction, and reopen approved records only when a manager needs to change them.
Action guide
- Approve when the record is complete and payroll-ready.
- Reject when the employee or manager must correct the record before approval.
- Reopen when an approved record needs a manager-controlled correction.
Steps
- Open the timesheet from the review view.
- Confirm the employee, date, client, site, and worked time.
- Review any flags or manual edits.
- Choose approve, reject, or reopen.
- Add a clear reason when rejecting or reopening.
- Save the action and confirm the status changes.
What good looks like
Every approved timesheet should be defensible, and rejected or reopened records should explain what needs to happen next.
Common mistakes
- Rejecting without a clear reason.
- Reopening approved records casually after payroll review.
- Approving records with unresolved missed clock-outs.
