How does the 'Owner Stays Free' rule work?

Your primary workspace account, which controls billing and top-level settings, is a permanent $0 seat. Even if you have 500 employees, BetterDesks never charges for the primary owner. You only pay for the additional users you bring in to help manage the work.

Are 'Unlimited Clients' really included in the free tier?

Yes. Whether you are a solo operator or a large agency, we don't believe in charging you for growth. You can add as many clients, sites, and geofences as your business requires without seeing a price increase.

How do you define an 'Active' seat for billing?

We built BetterDesks for high-turnover industries like Security and Field Services. If an employee is deactivated or has no activity within a billing cycle, they don't count toward your bill. You only pay for the workforce that is actually contributing to your revenue.

Is there a long-term commitment?

No. Our pricing is month-to-month and purely usage-based. Because your bill is tied to your active seat count, it naturally contracts if your workforce shrinks, protecting your margins during seasonal dips.

What happens to my data if I go back to Solo mode?

If you scale back to a solo operation, your $15 platform fee and seat costs stop. You retain access to your workspace, though historical search data may be limited to the standard 60-day window unless you reactivate the Team tier.
